How to setup Self-Service Password resets

The ability to reset your own network password has come! “What does this mean?”, you may ask! It means if you get locked out of your workstation you can go to a website from your phone or another computer and reset it. For this to work, you must have two different verification methods setup in Microsoft 365. You already have one setup for two-factor authentication. To add a second one go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/ and sign in with your full email address and your network password (the same one you use to login into your workstation every day). Then click on “Security Info” and then “Add sign-in method” (see screenshots below). Choose one of the available options and you are ready to go. If you do get locked out or need to reset your password, go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/ and enter your full email address and click “Next”. Then click on “Forgot my password” and follow the steps.

Notes:

•        If you login to https://login.microsoftonline.com/ and the screen doesn’t look like the screenshots below, click on your profile picture at the top right corner of the screen and click “View Account”.

•        If you have any trouble with the setup, please submit a ticket for assistance.

•        Make sure you save the https://login.microsoftonline.com/ URL as a bookmark on your mobile browser and your home computer browser so you have easy access in the event you get locked out.
